What Causes Unexplained Blackout, Dizziness, Headache And Shortness Of Breath?
Hell, My son is 26 the other day on his way to work he started feeling dizzy and then blacked out while driving. Thank God he is ok, But his symptoms are : dizzy spells, headaches, pain down the left side and shortness of breath. Occasionally he does drink energy drinks.
Unexplained black out in a young man is usually from stress and exhaustion. It is important to know if he is having his meals and the glucose level in his blood was normal when it happened. Hypoglycemia is the commonest cause for a black out.
Stress can also cause a sudden black out. This happens due to triggering of the parasympathetic nervous system and the black out can happen due to excessive stress on the mind.
Any epilepsy has to be ruled out clinically if he has a tendency of having seizure anytime. This might involve doing EEG and brain scan if required after clinical examination.
Other rare causes can be in the brain and therefore if there is repeat of this event then a complete neurological examination is suggested. Pleased do not worry.
