What Causes Unusual Smell In Nose And Severe Headache Radiating Towards Eyes?

Hi there,Over the last few months I get a sweet smell in my upper airways of my nose and within minutes after that s starts I get a bad headache that wraps around my eyes and forehead. I m assuming it is probably related to my sinus . It doesn t happen every day and it s at random times of the day but primarily in early to late morning. Sometimes Tylenol and Advil relieve the headache other times it doesn t. The smell in my nose stays until the headache goes away. I have never had a weird taste either with it, just smell. Any advice would help.Thank you.

Hi

there are many causes for unusual smell in the nose and associated head aches and few common ones are

- Chronic sinusitis, or sinus infections, cause a stuffy or runny nose, tooth pain, fever, sore throat and more

- Asepctic Meningitis Tension headaches, caused by muscle tension, are marked by pain, pressure and tightness around the head

- Acute sinusitis
Acute sinusitis, an inflammation of the sinuses, causes sinus pain and tenderness, facial redness and more

- Throat infection (since there is a connection between the nose and throat) any infection in throat can also have some kind of smell

Suggest to do steam inhalation during the episodes of head ache and keep the nose and throat in hygienic condition

can also do Listerine/mouth gargle
