What Causes Unusual Smell In Nose Despite Suffering From Sinus Infection?
Went to the doctor this past Monday and was told I had a sinus infection. I am on medication and I feel better already. My nose is clear but since Monday before my appointment I have been having a funny smell in my nose like ammonia or a bleach smell. Will it go away and what can I do?
As per your complain the foul smell in nose is due to sinus infection only and as you are already taking mediation it will clear off gradually and the foul smell will subside. You might be advised to take antibiotics for relieving infection as well as decongestants must also be advised.. Along with it you should also do steam inhalations and add a few drops of Eucalyptus oil in it as it will help in relieving the bad smell. Do saline nasal sprays. Use a humidifier in your room.
In case if still there is no improvement consult an Otolaryngologist and get evaluated and he/she can advise you to get a PNS view x ray , nasal endoscopy as per requirement and get treated accordingly..
Hope this helps..
Thanks and regards.
