Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My urine has smelled like coconuts for several years now. I mentioned it to a friend and she got really worried. All labs check out and I'm not diabetic or have high bp. I also never consume coconut or coconut water. I do take several meds for anxiety and depression. Ideas and should I worry?
Based on your introduction, it's due to metabolites of drugs that you take for anxiety and depression, which are excreted via urine from kidneys. So there's nothing to worry about.
To minimize this smell in urine, I will recommend you to drink 6-8 glasses of water daily, so the urine will smells less and it will seems clear and you will be well-hydrated too.
All the best!
