What Causes Unusual Smell In Vagina After Zoloft Withdrawal?
I recently wean myself off of 50 mg of Zoloft that I ve been taking for four years now and I have a smell in my vagina that is unexplainable is it from stopping my medication I also take essential oils in the past month and I ve read that could be a cause as well does this make sense to you? I m 38 and also feel like I m more sexual the past month and more wet does that make sense
The unusual smell in the vagina indicates possible vaginal infection with some sort of bacteria as Chlamydia, Trichomonas, Gonorrhea, Candida or else. The same does not co relate with the withdrawal of the Zoloft medicine in any concern.
Contributing factors for the development of vaginal infections are: - Unprotected sex - Multiple sex partners - Lack in vaginal hygiene - Prolong use of same tampons - Urinary tract infection - Sexually transmitted infection
- Low immunity - Simultaneous use of steroids for other reasons - Uncontrolled diabetes - Underlying inflammation of some sort hampering the vaginal flora and anaerobes via disturbances in pH of the vagina
Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
