General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

You have not fell or had any injury around your knee and presently you are having swelling in the back of your leg and knee pain. Cause of knee pain is commonly ligament or tendon strain or tear, torn cartilage, OA, RA, gout, bursitis, tendonitis, iliotibial band ligament, etc. To get relief, you can take pain relieving medicines like Naproxen / Combiflam, one SOS after food.

Rest, ice, compression, and elevation will relieve discomfort and help to reduce swelling. You are suggested to get clinically examined by a GP or orthopedist so that blood tests, urinalysis, investigations and imaging tests are done to detect the pathology so that treatment can be started at the earliest. Your treating doctor can suggest you to get imaging tests done if required.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Nupur K., General & Family Physician
