Hi,

Though, the condition of hypothyroidism, may cause unusual taste of tongue as well as dryness of tongue, but such type of symptoms are not present in hyperthyroidism. Still, there may be one reason for these symptoms. The radio active iodine acutely inhibits the secretion of thyroid hormone and thus producing transient symptoms of hypothyroidism including dryness of tongue. However, these symptoms should be transient and should subside within some time, once the thyroid hormone level stabilizes.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
