Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Upper Abdominal Pain After A Gastric Bypass Surgery?
I had gastric bypass in 2003. Within the last 5 years, I get a pain in the upper center of my stomach. It comes on when taking 1/4 of a pain med such as Percocet or oxycodone, some allergy/cold meds OTC, and alcohol. (Not in combination, I rarely drink and only take any pain meds for a surgery and only a couple doses). I need to have a lot of skin removed and I am ready to consult with a plastic surgeon but am afraid that I might need pain meds that will cause this pain I get. I also sometimes get a strange cramping on my right side when I lay on that side. I literally have to hold my stomach to turn back over or the pain is intense. Wondering what it could be and if these symptoms are related. Thanks so much!
It is due to some sort of gastric infection. Take some antibiotic like norflox-tz or oflox-oz after an expert opinion along with meftal-spaz or cyclopam for the abdominal cramps. Take cap rekool-d or omez-d empty stomach. If still not improved then you have to go for abdominal ultrasound to isolate the cause and take further treatment.
