What Causes Upper Abdominal Pain After Taking Adderall?
I m taking adderall xr 20mg in the morning and adderall 10mg at 4 pm. Started taking them Sept 2nd. Also I m on Lexapro 10mg. I have had this right upper stomach pain like right below my ribs area for going on three days now. I did have my gallbladder removed July 29th but the pain didn t come until after I started taking the adderall and aderall xr. Is my body just adjusting or do I need to switch meds? Thanks!
Adderall may cause stomach upset and pain. Thus, your symptoms may be related to its use. On the other hand, it is best that you talk to your doctor for any changes in dose or changes in medications. Adderall is a drug that can not be stopped abruptly unless you have a severe allergic reaction to it.
So, it is best to take it after food meanwhile and make sure you set an appointment with your doctor.
He will rule out other causes of the pain and will determine the needed changes (reduce dose, change to another medication or add a PPI to protect your stomach) to help with the pain.
I hope this answers your query. I remain at your disposal in case further medical assistance is needed.
Regards, Dr. Antoneta Zotaj, General and Family Physician
