What Causes Upper Abdominal Pain While Suffering From Crohn S Disease?
My teenage daughter was diagnosed last year with Crohns of the small intestines. Tonight we came to the ER beck she s been having severe upper abdominal pain. CT showed... Thickening and enhancement of the terminal ileum. Peritoneum: Ileocolic lymphadenopathy, likely reactive.... No free air or loculated collection. Can you please tell me what we re looking at. She s being admitted.
As per my clinical experience, there are various causes of upper abdomen pain in a patient with Crohn's disease.
As there is thickening of the terminal ileum with lymphadenopathy, recent intestine infection or inflammation with a flare-up is the most likely reason for the current symptoms.
The control of basic issue with intravenous antibiotics, supportive IV fluids, antiemetics, proton pump inhibitors, antispasmodic with correction of electrolyte imbalance will solve the issue within a period of time.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
