General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Upper abdominal pain and bloating is commonly caused by indigestion, food allergy, food poisoning, ulcer (esophageal / stomach), gastritis, IBS. Black stools may be indicative of ulcerative colitis, cancer, upper GIT issues, ileocecal cancer, etc. You are suggested to get clinically examined by a GP, get CBC, urinalysis, stool tests, liver function tests, imaging tests done.

You will be treated according to the severity of the symptoms and pathology detected. Stay away from addictions if any and get treated at the earliest. Stay well hydrated and take adequate rest. You can take antacid and PPIs to ease discomfort. Take small quantity of food that can be easily digested, multiple times a day. Avoid spicy oily food. take food that is boiled or cooked in olive oil.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Nupur K., General & Family Physician
