What Causes Upper Back Pain While Breathing Deep Along With Nasal Congestion?

Yes. I have upper back pain and it hurts when I breathe deeply. I also have some nausea and I have moved my bowels 3 times today. I had a stomach ache last evening after eating dinner. This week, I was feeling under the weather with nasal congestion and sneezing.

Hi dear ,

Welcome to HCM,

Understanding your concern. As per your query you are suffering from symptoms like upper back pain while breathing deep along with nasal congestion . The symptoms you mention in query are pointing towards a condition known as upper respiratory track infection like sore throat or pharyngitis . Sometimes when infection is left untreated then it will spread to surroundings and may infect larynx . Apply warm compresses om back and neck. I would suggest you to consult ENT specialist without any delay so that infection can not spread to entire respiratory track . Doctor may order throat swab test , viral culture test , blood test and CT scan to rule out condition like acidic reflux and sinusitis . Doctor may prescribe antibiotics like amoxicillin or antiviral like acyclovir for at least a week . For now do warm saline gargles and take steam twice a day to relieve the congestion. Doctor may also recommend deep breathing exercises .
