What Causes Upper Chest And Shoulder Pain While Suffering From Diarrhoea?

My 8 year old daughter had diarrhea and vomited 3 times yesterday she has been complaining of intense lower abdominal pain since yesterday morning. She had a fever of 100.3 last night and 100.4 tonight. Ibuprofen helps with the pain and the fever. She is now complaining that under her armpits her upper chest and shoulders are hurting when they are touched.

HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

Viral or bacterial infections can be associated with muscle aches or pain in some persons.

Diarrhea and vomiting are most commonly due to viral or bacterial infection of the stomach and bowel (gastroenteritis) but if the pain is very severe she may need assessment by her doctor for other causes.

The main aspect of treatment of gastroenteritis involves preventing or treating dehydration with oral rehydration fluids, pedialyte would give her back both fluid and electrolytes.

The fluid is given slowly in small amounts till you are sure she can tolerate it.

The ibuprofen or paracetamol would help with the fever and muscle pain.

I hope this helps
