What Causes Urethra Pain After Urination?

I have pain sometimes after I urinate in my urethra. It starts off as a slight pain and gets moderate at some places. The pain moves along the urethra and ends at the tip where it is the most painful but the pain is still moderate. I had unprotected sex in February and didn t have any symptoms until last month (June). What could be possible causes? Male - 19 years old

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Your symptoms seem to be related to a urinary tract infection.

I suggest doing a urine test to confirm the diagnosis.

If the diagnosis is confirmed, I suggest using a cycle of antibiotics such as Ciprofloxacin to treat the infection.

I also suggest using anti-inflammatory medications such as Acetaminophen to relieve the symptoms.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Dorina Gurabardhi, General & Family Physician
