Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
When attempting to sleep, I have the urge to urinate every 1 1/2 hours. I travel to the bathroom and urinate a moderate amount, then return to the bedroom to have the same thing occur over and over. I drink two 12 oz beers between 3 and 4 in the afternoon and have two cups of caffeinated coffee at 6, then no more liquids after that. I try to go to sleep about 11. My medications are levothyroxine, metoprolol, lovastatin, and warfarin, prescribed for the treatment and maintenance of a prosthetic aortic valve and I have a pacemaker. This frequent urge to urinate at night has been on going for some time. I do not have the same urge during my waking hours and am concerned about whether it is something to seek treatment for.
First of all I need to know your age and gender as well. In older males prostrate enlargement is the major cause of such complaints. I need you to get your ultrasound of the prostrate done in order to know the size and post void urine volume in bladder as well if its causing any problem or not.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Sameen Bin Naeem, General & Family Physician
