Hi,I am Dr. Amitkumar Sharma (Internal Medicine Specialist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Urinary Incontinence While On Toviaz And Namenda XR?
My mother started taking Namenda XL two days ago, administered at same time as Toviaz oral (lunchtime), and both days in the late afternoon/early evening had a distressing incontinence episode. Local pharmacist said she saw there could be a moderate drug interaction between the two meds, reducing the effectiveness of Toviaz. Is this what is going on and will it help if I give her Toviaz at lunch and Namenda at bedtime (8 pm)?
Hi, thanks for your question. I have read your question and understand your concerns.
Short answer: There is no known/significant interaction between the two drugs.
Please administer the medications as advised by the pharmacist. It would be worth-knowing how much (dose) Toviaz does your monther takes. Usually, when it is not effective in a smaller dose, Toviaz can be increased to the maximum allowed dosage. Alternatively, other diagnoses should be taken into consideration that might be causing the problem e.g infection etc.
Hope I have answered your query. Please do not hesitate to ask for any further clarification.
