Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Ever since I can remember, after a bowel movement I end up having to urinate again. It seems that after I lay down, 5 minutes later I have to urinate again. This sometimes happens longer than others, but I can almost consistently urinate after a bowel movement. How can I stop urinating?
The usual cause of urination after bowel movement is from inspissated stool with loaded colon. As there is bowel evacuation, pressure off loading, relieves the nerves compressing the lower back and hence the bladder musculature gets contractions with detrusor action. The urination is the act of detrusor contraction and trigone relaxation via various mechanics at spinal cord level.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
