Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Urine And Stool Discoloration Upon Intake Of Forecox?
i,ve been diagnosed with TB. and my doctor has advised me to take two forecox tablets empty stomach before breakfast. and benadon tablet to be taken after breakfast. but after taking forecox tablets i feel drowsiness and the color of my urine and excreta changes to dark orange or reddish. is this normal, or are serious sideeffects..
Based on the history you have shared, the discoloration of urine and body fluids is due to a drug included in forecox called rifampicin and is normal and nothing to worry about.
However, drowsiness or dizziness is not a usual side effect so I suggest taking renal and liver function tests as with anti-tuberculosis drugs these should be monitored. Also visual acuity and color vision must be monitored.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr. Saddiq Ulabidin, General & Family Physician
