What Causes Vaginal Bleeding After Unprotected Intercourse?

Hi, not really used to these things but i need answers. Ive been on the implanon for 3 years. It was supposed to get removed last year in December. I had unprotected sex on the 28th of April and on the 1st of may i experienced some bleeding. It was light at first but than got a bit heavy and darker red. I still got it today, still the same heavy and bright red with little blood clots. Ive got cramping but not that painful. Wondering if i could be pregnant.

Pathologist and Microbiologist 's  Response
Hello,

It is technically not possible to get pregnant with Implanon. Vaginal bleeding could be due to endometrial hyperplasia, endometrial polyp or some other kind of growth. I suggest you to consult a gynecologist for clinical assessment, relevant investigations and thus management.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Shailja Puri, Pathologist and Microbiologist
