Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Vaginal Bleeding Along With Abdominal Pain While On Depo Shot?
I got my depo shot 3 months ago. Everything was fine it stopped my period and I thought it would be great. Well about 3 weeks ago I started getting bad UTI, abdominal pains, and bleeding black or brown blood vaginally. Everyone is telling me it s likely I had a miscarriage. I just need to know if this is normal side effect of depo or if it should be taken seriously.
Pregnancy while on Depo shots is very rare. However, if you are having symptoms of early pregnancy like a missed period, implantation spotting or bleeding. Tenderness or other changes in the breasts associated with fatigue you should visit your OBGYN. Get clinically examined. Get blood and urine tests done. Get USG (Uterus) done if required. You will be treated according to the finding of your clinical symptoms and reports.
Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Nupur K, General & Family Physician
