Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Had vaginal scan showed uterus lining being 10mm, 10 days after period. Been asked to go for another scan directly after my next period. I have been experiencing heavy bleeding pain during sex and also painful wearing a tampon. Also pain in lower back is crippling around period time. What could be the cause and next step if lining is the same at the next scan?
Hello dear Understand your concern Average thickness of endometrium is 6.7 mm and in the mid cycle 10 mm thickness is normal. You forget to mention your age. In postmenopausal end of cycle >11 cm thickness has high risk of development of endometrial cancer. I advice you to go for scan at end of cycle. I think about following possibility in your case: Endometrial hyperplasia or cancer Endometriosis Submucosal polyp and fibroid Dysfunctional uterine bleeding due to hormonal imbalance. Consul the gynecologist and go for following investigations: Endometrial biopsy and USG scan. Doctor may provide following advice: Analgesic tablet, tranexemic tablet to reduce bleeding Progesterone preparation: primolut N or susten V. If not responds then provera shot should be given. Next management depend on the biopsy report: At last option bleeding can be stop by D & C and endometrial ablation. Hope this may help you Best regards Dr. Sagar
