Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
i am 48 years of age. very fit and healthy. i have had spotting of blood from my vagina for the past month. during sex i would bleed and there was a stale blood smell when i would urinate..my last period was extremely light but last week my period came on so heavy and light pink...i saw my gynaecologist and had an ultrasound swab and blood tests..he was happy there was nothing sinister...he put me on primolut to stop the bleed and smell in my urine...this worked and i then ease off but my period started heavily again....i am concerned that maybe it could be my bladder or kidneys as i am having pain my bak sides and pelvis....do blood tests show overall cancers everywhere ?
As per my clinical experience, the vaginal bleed during intercourse might be related to various possibilities as: - Vaginal infection through bacteria or fungi - Excess friction from violent sex - Pre-menopausal changes - Post menopausal bleed (usually carcinoma in situ or squamous cell carcinomacervix). I would recommend a Pap smear of the cervix at this stage without delay for the final microbiologic diagnosis and management without any hassle.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
