Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I'm a 42 year old female have had breakthrough bleeding during expected ovulation. Cramping and bleeding would occur but be toletable and the use of a panty liner for a few days would be fine. In the past few months it has gotten worse. Feels like I'm experiencing a full on period during ovulation. Bleeding is excessive needing 2-3 heavy flow pads throughout a day and overnight would be a mess of the mattress and this goes on for days at a time. I was prescribed tranexamic acid to get the bleeding to stop. I have been for a pap /feb 3 2015 and today feb 26 /2015 for a pelvic and transvaginal ultrasound. The last time I had these same ultrasounds was in dec. 2010. the results were: (as quoted from report): uterus is retroverted and measures 7.6 cm in length. Endometrial lining is inhomogeneous in appearance and measures at the upper limits of normal at 11 mm. There is a simple cyst in the left ovary. Right is unremarkable. Trace of free fluid is seen in the cul-de-sac. IMPRESSION Borderline thickening of the endometrium with an inhomogeneous appearance. This should be reassessed with another ultrasound in 6-8 weeks for any interval changes. Simple 2.6 cm ovarian cyst .
I was given this report today. I was never advised by my Dr. In 2010 that I should go for another ultrasound to reassess at that time. Now I'm afraid things are so much worse and so much time has gone wasted.
