What Causes Vaginal Bleeding During Pregnancy?

I m around 10 weeks pregnant and experiencing vaginal bleeding. I went to my OB/GYN and my cervix is still closed, so she said I m not having a miscarriage and ordered lab work to be done; she also advised me not to have sex. Should I be worried or is this something normal?

Pathologist and Microbiologist 's  Response
Hello and welcome to HCM,
Since the cervix is close, there is no indication or risk of threatened abortion.
The vaginal bleeding is probably due to some lesion in the vaginal canal.
Avoid sex as advised by your gynaecologist and observe for any blood discharge.
If there is no blood discharge you can relax and there is nothing to worry.
However, if the bleeding still continues you again need to consult your gynaecologist for further work up.

Thanks and take care
