General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi
Vaginal bleeding in the middle of a menstrual cycle is not always normal and may be caused by a series of medical conditions. Some worth worrying about and others not. Some common causes of bleeding between menses could be:
-Pregnancy related : implantation bleeding
-Ovarian causes: ovulation/anovulation bleeding, ovarian cyst rupture, hormonal imbalance,
Uterine causes : fibroids, endometriosis,
-Infectious causes : STI, PID, cervical abnormalities
Just to name a few.
With all these possible causes, evaluation by the Doctor is necessary.Given the recurrence, i will advise you see a Doctor for a pelvic ultrsound and STI work-ups.If the pain is too intense, you may take ibuprofen
Hope my answer will help you
Best regards
