Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Vaginal Bleeding Post Intercourse Despite Having Normal Pap Smear Test?
35 year old married with 2 children. Blood streaked mucous after sex 5 days before period due. Stopped within 12 hours and no other symptoms like pain etc All paps current and always normal. Should I be concerned? I don t want to panic or see a dr unless I should be worried (I have bad health anxiety and am learning to balance necessary vs unnecessary worry)
Thanks for consulting at my virtual clinic. I have carefully worked through your case, and I can realize your health worries. Being your physician, I assure you not to worry as I will take care all of your medical concerns.
So, keep it in the box of unnecessary worries and please sit relax back. This isn't a clinically significant health issue with having a negative PaP smear result.
It happens normally, sometimes vigorous intercourse leads to streaks of bloody mucous.
Hope it helps. If you need further, detailed and quick assistance related to any health issues in future, feel free to 'ask me a question' directly from my profile.
Have a wonderful time ahead.
Best Regards!
