What Causes Vaginal Bleeding, Swollen Abdomen And Cramping During Pregnancy?

I am 7 weeks pregnant. I am bleeding and have awful cramps and back pain. My dr says there is a 50/50 chance i might have a miscarriage in the next couple of days. I woke up this morning with nausea and felt like my abdomen was swollen. I still feel pain and still bleeding light red. What should I expect?!

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,
Thanks for posting in HCM.
I understand your concern.
Having spotting and getting cramps during early 1st trimester of pregnancy is not a good sign as it can lead to miscarriage. What the doctor has said is right.
In fact you cannot do much at this stage. You can only take some supportive measures and hope for the best.
Kindly take absolute bed rest and totally avoid strenuous physical activity for next two weeks. Drink good quantities of fluids and eat healthy food during this time.
You can get an ultrasound scan done after two weeks to know the status and progress of pregnancy.
Kindly consult Gynecologist for proper advise in this regard.
Hope the information provided would be helpful.
All the best.
