Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hi there, I’m having some bleeding while on kariva oral contraceptive. I take it perfectly at around the same time every night and never miss a pill. I believe this is my fifth month on the pill. I had a little bout of blood yesterday after intercourse and then it stopped and there was another bout of blood today after physical activity. Both of these bouts included some cramping as if I were on my period. Yesterday was the fifth pill of the third week of my pack (four days before the start of my placebo week) I’ve never had spotting or breakthrough bleeding before however I have had unusual periods where some are heavy, some are light and they start on different days of the placebo week and last longer and shorter some months than others. Could this be because it is a very low dose of hormones? I also have been under a lot of stress and physical pain lately.

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
Your stress may be inducing hormonal imbalance. Start mental relaxation by deep breathing etc and meditation. Also undergo ultrasound abdomen to rule out any uterine or ovarian pathology.
