What Causes Vaginal Bleeding While On Birth Control Pills?

Hi, I have a weird question... I went to the chiropractor and got my period. I am currently on the birth control pill and I had 12 days left before my sugar pills. is this normal? Its been 3 days now of a steady flow while still continuing with my pill everyday.

Hi,

It is normal to experience period-type bleeding when you are taking a combined contraceptive pill which contains the two hormones Estrogen and Progesterone.

These pills are usually taken for three weeks, with a one week pill break during which you are likely to notice bleeding. This is perfectly ordinary and it doesn’t mean that the pill hasn’t worked.

Hope I have answered your query.
Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Prabhash Verma,
