What Causes Vaginal Bleeding With Blood Clots After Taking Plan B?
I had unprotected sex October 9th (he didn t ejaculate inside me) However, I also had unprotected sex November 5th and he ejaculated inside me. I took Plan B One Step within 24 hours, but also my expected period date was November 7th. I started bleeding light from the 8th and 9th and now it s just mostly blood clots. (I have to change a super/super plus tampon almost every hour/2 hours. Is this my period or withdrawl bleeding from Plan B? I just wasn t sure since I took Plan B so close to my period.
Hi, Plan B has a progesterone called levonorgestrel. Being a hormone, this levonorgestrel can alter the menstrual cycle's rhythm in a very unpredictable manner. As you have taken near the end of your cycle. it is most likely to be your normal periods that is compounded by decreasing levels of levonorgestrel. This might be the reason you are having more clots and blood. If the bleeding and clots continues, do contact an obstetrician. I would recommend you to avoid taking emergency contraceptives as it can result in altered menstruation and also has a higher chances of failure. Opt for a regular contraception or barrier protection instead. I hope the above information helps you. Thank you for writing into healthcaremagic. Have a wonderful day.
