Hi,I am Raju.A.T (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Vaginal Discomfort And Dryness Post Periods?
I just finished my period, and I have been having dryness, along with discomfort. I used some replens, to try and bring my ph balance back to normal, thinking that it was just from using tampons. But now I seem to have a tissue like substance, it s white has a faint sweet smell, looks like tissue paper falling apart. What is it, do I need to be worried.
Vaginal dryness is common and usually result of lack of estrogens but some other less common causes may be present.
The most common treatment for vaginal dryness due to low estrogen levels is topical estrogen therapy.
In order to keep the vagina more lubricated, try using a vaginal moisturizer (Replens).
You use a disposable applicator such as Vagifem to insert a tablet into your vagina once a day for the first two weeks of treatment.Avoid using douches, bubble baths, scented soaps, and lotions around the sensitive vaginal area.
These products can worsen dryness.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr Ivan R. Rommstein, General Surgeon
