What Causes Vaginal Lichen Planus During Pregnancy?

I have a flare up of vaginal lichen planus and I am pregnant. Can I pass this onto the baby? I ve had lots of treatment in the past and even had a fentons procedure done. Have been well for about a year but am now experiencing the itching-so I know full well that this is only just the start again. Should I see my private consultant again, am I really likely to go through another 3 year cycle of it? Can I continue to use dermovate

Hi,

Lichen planus is an autoimmune condition and it should become less severe and less active in pregnancy.No it is not neccessary that you will pass it on to your baby .Having this will not harm your baby in any way.
Dermovate is a topical steroid and can be continued to use in pregnancy .It will not harm the pregnancy.
Since you have had the fenton procedure ,do let your gynaecologist know before delivery ,to see if you will have any problems delivering vaginally.
You should follow up with a dermatologist for further treatment of lichen planus.
