Hi,I am Dr. Alexander H. Sheppe (Psychiatrist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have experienced a lot of painful intercourse. I was reading that your hymen muscle could never have been completely broken, resulting in painful intercourse. If this is my problem, would a gynocologist be able to easily detect it? What would be the procedure or treatment they would use?
A partially split hymen can be diagnosed by a gynecologist and can be treated by simple procedures done by you at home. If you feel that your hymen is not fully split, you can also stretch your hymen yourself without going to the doctor first. Place a finger with lubrication jelly into your vagina and apply pressure on the vaginal entrance by pressing downward toward the anus. Keep the pressure on for a few minutes, and then release it. Repeat this procedure several times, each time with a little more pressure. Then insert two fingers and apply pressure to the sides of the vaginal entrance, in addition to the downward stretching. Physical causes of painful intercourse tend to differ, depending on whether the pain occurs at entry or with deep thrusting.
If you still face the problem after doing the above steps then please consult your doctor since you experience pain at the time time of penetration might have other important causes.
Pain during penetration may be associated with a range of factors, including:
Insufficient lubrication. Injury, trauma or irritation. Vaginismus.
