What Causes Vaginal Spotting After Consuming Alcohol?

I was in the depo shot for quite a while, But had my last dose 11 months ago. I never had a period & still don t. My doctor said sometimes it can take up to 18 months to get it again. My question is, the past 2 times I drank alcohol , both times I drank a lot, it had made me spot the following day or 2 . It s this normal?

Hello and welcome.

Influencing factors like alcohol, smoking, medications, stress, changes in weight, etc; can all cause some changes to the menstrual cycle resulting in certain symptoms.

The spotting would have been due to that, and I would not worry too much about it. I also concur with your doctor about your menstrual cycle returning to normal in a few months due to the depo shot. But if you are not comfortable with waiting, then I would recommend the use of hormonal supplements to help induce a withdrawal bleed.
