What Causes Vaginal Spotting After Restarting Birth Control Pills?

I recently restarted taking birth control pills back in march and after taking a break for 4 months. I have had light spotting for about a week and a half. is that normal after restarting birth control pills? should I be worried. I should be getting my period in the next few days.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

- It is common to have spotting after starting birth control pills.
- Additionally, if you are expecting your period in the next few days, it is likely that the contraceptive has not reached stable levels in your blood, that would cause your period to be delayed.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Pranav Balakrishnan, General & Family Physician
