What Causes Vaginal Spotting Along With Delayed Periods?

Hi doctor.. I got spottin 5 days prior to my period.but now it's been 6days past the date of period.i din get my periods til now.. I don't find any signs of pregnancy even though I haven't took any home tests.. Ian very confused about my delayin period. Please help
