General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

Spotting or irregular bleeding along with abdominal cramps can occur due to hormonal imbalance. Hormonal imbalance can occur due to endometriosis, uterine fibroid or ovarian cysts. I would suggest you to take a pelvic scan, thyroid function test and complete blood count in order to rule out the above causes. You may be required to take a course of hormonal pills for a few months to correct your menstrual cycles.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Saranya Ramadoss, General & Family Physician
