Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Doctor, I am 16 weeks pregnant, last night I found spotting that was very small in quantity I rushed to the doctor and I am suggested to take chromostat apart from the medicines prescribed earlier. Doctor is it normal? Or is there chances of miscarriage?
Vaginal spotting during the first trimester of pregnancy is quite common. It may occur due to sexual intercourse, excessive exercise, cervical polyp or heavy work/ heavy weight lifting.
You are suggested to stay at rest & take the medicine prescribed by your gynae. It should stop. Avoid sexual intercourse.
In case, you see spotting or bleeding again, you should get an USG(uterus) done to confirm the well being of the fetus & the position of the placenta.
Sometimes, bleeding occurs due to placenta previa. Get USG done to rule out placenta previa to stay on the safer side.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr. Nupur K
