What Causes Vaginal Spotting When Diagnosed With UTI?

I have been on depo provera regularly for almost 10 years, and I have never been late with injection . I normally do not spot, however i am due for my Shot in 3 days and started spotting today. I just got diagnosed with Uti today, after going to Dr with pain and burning, could that be contributing to the spotting?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,
Thanks for writing to HCM.
Spotting, early or delayed periods and cramps are some of the side effects known to occur when you are on depo provera injections.
Hence you need not worry much about it. It is not linked to your problem of urinary tract infection.
You can continue with your depo injections and drugs you have been on for treatment of UTI.
Wish you good health.
