What Causes Vaginal Spotting While On Contraceptive Pill?

I m taking the mini pill for the first time. I ve been on it for about about 2 1/2 weeks. I had my period normal for about three days and after that it s been spotting brown/pink discharge. What does this mean? Is it normal or should I take a pregnancy test to be sure?

Understand your concern.
I think it is side effects of contraceptive pills as you are using first time.
It will disappear after 6-8 week of continuation.

Vaginal spotting occur due to hormonal imbalance that caused by side effects of pills.

Note the common side effects of OCP:
Intermenstrual spotting
Nausea
Breast tenderness
Irregular periods, nausea, headaches or weight change.
Headache
Malaise, weakness
Weight gain
Mood changes: due to hormonal imbalance
Decreased libido
Vaginal discharge
Visual changes

No need to take pregnancy test.
If next time , if period is delayed , you should think about pregnancy and hormonal imbalance.
