What Causes Vaginal Spotting?

My period came 2 days late. It started light and coming out in small blobs on a pad, however when I go to the toilet I have to push it out. I don t know what s happening as I usually just have a heavy flow with bad pains but now it s hardly any pain and no flow unless it s pushed and then it s just think and stringy

Infection of the pelvic organs (vagina, cervix, uterus, fallopian tubes, or ovaries) may cause vaginal bleeding, especially after intercourse or douching. Sexually transmitted infections (STIs) are often the cause of infections...or stress also cause spotting
