What Causes Vaginal Spotting?

I had bright red spotting 1 wk before my period. It happened once and I noticed while wiping after urination. I mistook for period, Used a tampon which was slightly staine, started trenexamix acid which I normally do and stopped when I noticed no more bleeding. I have been sexually active but there was no ejaculation inside me. I do not have any other symptom of pregnancy. Can I be pregnant?

I understand your concern.

As you got your periods after you noticed the bleeding spot,it is less likely that you are pregnant.
Vaginal spotting may be because of presence of pelvic inflammatory disease.
It can be bacterial or viral.
You need to consult gynaecologist for proper pelvic examination.
Oral antifungals or antibiotics course of 7-10 days may be needed to cure the infection.
You need to refrain from seual activity while on treatment.
Also necessary to get your partner checked and treated .
