What Causes Vaginal Swelling After Having Intercourse?

My husband and I had sex a couple days ago and I was a bit sore from perhaps being too rough. I have a dr appt today with my obgyn bc I have some swelling coming from the lower part of the vagina almost like hemroids. What could this be? I've never had anything like this before. Could it be trauma from being too rough having sex?

Hi Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concern...
Yes vaginal swelling could occur due to vaginal dryness or insufficient natural vaginal lubrication. Which is due to low level of estrogen (especially if you are near 40s), insufficient arousal, anxiety, etc.
Vaginal swelling could occur due to bacterial or yeast infection also. Cleaning vagina with warm water is also helpful.

In case of vaginal dryness, You should use lubricants during sex. Alternatively vaginal moisturizers can be an effective way to minimize vaginal dryness over several days with one application.

If problem persisit visit a gynaecologist
Hope this information helps
