Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I am 63 and have an enduring temperature-inappropriate semi-hypothermic reaction if my toes-temperature falls below 68. I was frozen to the point of feeling very pleasant and dreamy while being ( understandably ) lost by the Army for 16 hours ,in a record-setting blizzard, at Fort Leonard Wood, Mo., in 1966.
Hello, Circulation is a critical factor in body temperature. The bloodflow pressure is limited on your extremities, so it often will vary in flow and therefore temperature at the extremities. Here, where you know a particular situation of stress and most likely frostbite has occurred, so you are compromised. Add in the factor of your age and some loss of elasticity in vessels, this will contribute to a lower quality of blood flow. Please make sure to mention this to your doctor. There are systemic diseases such as diabetes that can include side effects such as a compromise to your circulation. If you have a great decrease in the quality of your blood flow you risk loss of toes. Vascular disease is a concern for you. I hope I have provided some additional information for you. Thank you for your inquiry.
