Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I am 22 years old female. I am having period problem from last 3months. On July my period lasted only for 2days which is usually 6 days in normal days. Then I had heavy flow on August and now in Sept. I have no periods. I am already a week late. For your information I took abortion pills when I was 20years. I had normal flow after taking pills but the no. of days (length of period) decreased from 6 to 4-5 days. Why am I not having periods? Is it related to the pills I took before and if so what are the consequences? Would it effect my future fertility?

General & Family Physician, Dr. Vasudha's Response
Hi,
An emergency contraceptive pill taken 2 years back can not cause irregular menses at present. The changes in menses caused by I pill can take 3 months at the most to be back to normal. It seems your problem at present is due to some hormonal imbalance (ovarian, thyroid or PCOD problem) & needs to be investigated & cause found out followed by specific management. Such irregularity can hamper fertility... but is treatable when treated methodically. Please consult a gynecologist.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Vasudha Jayant Athavale, General & Family Physician
