Hi,I am Dr. Subhankar Chakraborty (Gastroenterologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Vertigo And Constipation With Blood In Stools?
My "regular" bowel movements are spaced approximately 2-3 days apart. On occassion I take a stool softener (if more than 3 days has passed) and it works overnight. Last week, after 4 days (no stool softener), I had a bowel movement and when I stood up to flush, I noticed that the water was bright red and there was a teaspoon size pool of blood at the bottom of the bowl. But since then, I have had several movements and have passed absolutely no blood at all. Also, I have had some vertigo every day for a number of weeks mostly when waking, or looking up. I do no see how these two symptoms can be related, but I would like a professional opnion. I am a 62 year old female with No insurance and currently umemployed so I am hoping you have some ideas. Thank you so much
Constipation with blood in stools indicates possible hemorrhoid issue more likely needs clinical confirmation and further management through primary help with sitz bath and keeping stools soft would work. Vertigo with waking or looking up is seemingly neurological if after maintenance of hydration it is persistent, we recommend CT scan brain.
