Hi,
I explain so you have a notion of what comes to mind when you mention to doctors
vertigo. It must be clear that the Vertigo is a syndrome. It is a syndrome since it encompasses several causes or etiologies.
We have then, the Vertiginous Peripheral Syndrome, and the Vertiginous Syndrome of Central Origin.
The peripheral is related to the vestibulocochlear apparatus (responsible for hearing and balance), and the Central origin; which is what your doctor probably prefers to discard as soon as possible, it has to do with the
Central Nervous System.
You bring up something important by saying that you suffered a Transient Ischemic Accident before. However, it would be very useful to know your age, sex,
smoking habit, among other things.
Being your doctor, and once discarding the central origin, we would proceed to the next step, of which an Otorhinolaryngologist has much greater experience.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr Luis Alberto Urdaneta Arenas, General & Family Physician
