What Causes Vertigo, Mild Fever, Dry Mouth And Chronic Fatigue?

I am having a problem with vertigo, constant low grade temperatures, dry mouth, food has little taste and chronic fatigue. I also find I can t sleep. I am taking Paxil and Ambien with very little change. My doctor keeps saying that it is menopause, but I had a hysterectomy 9 years ago and only have occasional hot flashes.

Hi,

I have gone through your medical history carefully and understood your concern.

You are mentioning to have following health problems:
- vertigo
- constant low body temperature
- dry mouth
- loss of taste
- chronic fatigue
- insomnia
- occasional hot flashes
- current medications: Paxil and Ambien but you see very little change
- personal history of hysterectomy 9 years ago

1. The constant low body temperature is due to slow metabolism rate you might be experiencing after post-hysterectomy hormonal imbalances. The hot flashes you notice sometimes are due to post-hysterectomy hormonal changes.

Menopausal hormonal changes are present for a long time, even longer than 9 years post-hysterectomy (sometimes 20 or more).
This is the time that your body needs to stabilize female hormones. It's true that the first 10 years of starting the symptoms, you might feel them as worst. However, they will get less by passing the time.

2. Ambien and Paxil use are often associated with some side effects including dry mouth, fatigue, vertigo, although not common.

3. If vertigo persists, I'd recommend to run further tests to rule out other pathologies like:
- complete blood count (anemia)
- ENT examination (ear problems)

4. Keep well hydrated. Breathe fresh air. Be more physically active as per your body ability to move. Take herbal supplements to ease your symptoms like passiflora, valerian, evening primrose oil, etc.

Hope it answered to your questions.
All the best!
