Hi
1. As you are an octogenarian, thus it is essential to have a consultation with a cardiologist [for cardiovascular status], a
hematologist [ for blood picture], and a
Neurologist [for any neurological sign] to arrive at a conclusion or provisional diagnosis.
2. In old age,
cervical spondylitis is the commonest cause of giddiness (ask for X-ray
cervical spine, ENT & Ophthalmic checkup. (Additionally, go for thyroid profile), till then general advice will be:
- Avoid movements of the head, bed rest
- Avoid caffeine
- Check whether any drug (if any) is causing giddiness
- Use cervical collar
- Injection Neurobion IM [alternate days]
- Capsule B complex twice daily for 15 days
PS. Check with
Vitamin B12 level since deficiency in this age does cause neurological problems.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
