I have a serious balance problem. I wear hearing aids in both ears. What could be causing my balance problem? It s like my brain tells my legs to do something and my legs don t respond. What kind of doctor should I see? Also, my legs ache much of the time. Thank you TV

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

The vertigo you are experiencing is being most likely caused because of a defect in your internal ear. Since you already are suffering from hearing loss it further points towards it.

Since the vestibulocochlear nerve play a major role in maintaining equilibrium, damage to this nerve may lead to vertigo.

Get yourself checked by an ENT who will do a few tests to determine whether the cause of vertigo is because of your internal ear or some other neurological disorder.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Nazma Amman
